Time to Spread Our Wings

Powerful Women in Entertainment.jpgIt’s this time of the year that we start taking count oif what we have achieved, where we failed and what we wish to achieve for next year.

Therefore it’s also the time of the year where all those lists of those that have made it, made a difference and became famous or powerful appear in our papers.

This weekend they published the list of the most powerful women in entertainment business. When I read that list I was overwhelmed. It was a refreshing and full of hope list.

If you look at the positions that those women are taking you’d realize that today in show business most probably your director, your CEO, your company’s president will be a women.

Gone are the days where the only place for a talented woman would be as an actress. Actually the first actress appears only in place 24 (!).

Looking at that list I realized that as women we’ll need to give up on one of our favorite excuses – the one that women do not have the same opportunities as men. The truth is staring straight in our face.

If those women could do it, and most of them do have families and children (so no getaway with that excuse…), if those women managed to do it in an industry that is known for its competitiveness, none of us has any more excuses for not achieving our goals.

If you are serious about reaching your goals in the coming year use those women as role models. Read about them and see what you can learn from how they think and how they act. I always say that Success leaves clues and these women are certainly clues for how we can make it in any industry that we are interested in.

The only thing now that is left to do is – to spread our wings and fly – these women have proved that the sky is NOT the limit.
