Spring - A Time for new Beginnings

Ostara.jpgAfter a month of silence I felt that spring is in the air. Just like the flowers that are starting to shoot and come out from the ground, so does my creativity and the need to communicate with people. It’s true we are creature of habits and some habits die hard.

Thousands of years of following nature cycles are still within our cell’s memories and it is hard for us to come out, communicate and reach out to people in the midst of winter. Winter has always been a time of hibernating and going in. It was a time to look inside and allow dreams to talk to us and give us inspiration and new directions to follow, so once spring is around we will know where to go.

This is how I feel. I feel as if I am waking up from a long winter sleep, full of energy and new directions.

Tomorrow is the equinox which is the time of the year where day and night are equal. In ancient times this date was called Ostara which was the celebration of the birth of spring. Pagans celebrate seasonal events of the year and cycles of the sun. Each has special meaning and rituals. Some of the traditions and rituals surrounding Ostara include, lighting fires, hard boiling eggs, gathering flowers and feasting.

Ostara is a time for basking in the beauty of nature, for renewing our spirits and our minds.  Take notice of the changes around you, feel the wind touch your face, watch as the new born animals come from behind the far trees, and let your spirit be free to be renewed. The Goddess has turned the Wheel of the Year to call the Sun God back to us. It’s a time to acknowledge new beginnings; to bless new goals and projects and be thankful on the gifts of abundance in our life.

Tonight I am going to celebrate this special date by creating my own ritual for Ostara. If you wish to celebrate this day here are some ideas for different rituals and celebrations.

Would love to hear about your new goals and projects!
