Mother Earth is Waking Up
The last few days were freezing when I got out of the house in the morning to take Thom to school. This winter is so weird. Nature is going crazy.
On one side, daffodils are springing out of the earth in mid-January, the crocuses are raising their heads and the trees are showing signs of buds on their bare branches. It’s as if Nature is not sure if it’s spring time or winter.
On the other hand we have days of storms that stop whole countries. Last week there was a storm so strong that the fire brigade released an announcement to stay at home and not get out. For me it was too late, so I was sitting in my office watching people fly in the air as if they are imitating Mary Poppins without the umbrella. At one point the wind was so strong that it blew a whole bicycle in the air at the level of my window which is one floor above the street level!
The last few days it felt like “normal winter where I need to put a few layers of stockings and socks underneath my pants so I would be able to keep myself relatively warm in order to function. I never did get used to the cold and the north wind here in Holland. I’m still a hot-blooded female from a Mediterranean country and I need my warmth!
In any case, all this confusing weather just shows that the Global Warming is not anymore a theory of dooms-day futurists. It’s here already! Holland is probably one of the first places to suffer from the effects and the consequences of this catastrophe. So it amazes me how little energy and attention this issue gets here. How little concern people have for this issue. This is something that is going to affect everyone here in Holland as this country is going to be wiped out of the map within a few years if this trend is going to continue. And still nothing is being done. It’s as if people are apathic to this topic. They hear about it and go: “Tzu, tzu, tzu, so bad, how terrible those big nations are… and then they go into their cars and drive away without even stopping to think what can I DO to create a change.
Nature is screaming to us and telling us that our time is short and that we need to DO something different and to change our way. But we keep holding to our thought that we, as humans, are the star of creation and that we rule the world. Well, we are in for a harsh wake-up call.
I used to laugh on all those societies that were trying to save mother earth. Mother earth is so huge and big she doesn’t need us to save her. We need to save us from ourselves!. We have forgotten that we are just another animal running on the top soil of this planet. And when Mother Earth is going to have enough of us using her and abusing her sources she will shake us off like a giant shaking a fly from his back.
This is exactly what we is taking place now in the last few years. Reflect on the amounts of strong and powerful Hurricanes that we had in the last 3-4 years. Think of the amounts of strong earth quakes that we’ve been having in the last 4-5 years and recall the amount of volcanoes that erupted in the last decade. All of them are signs from Mother Earth to call us back, to remind us that we have a responsibility to Nature and to our future and that we are abusing it.
The Universe and Mother earth are patient teachers. They first give us a soft reminder, and then when we don’t listen to it, they send us another sign. This time, stronger. If we don’t listen and we don’t correct, they send us another message, this time even stronger, as obviously we have not been able to hear the first ones, it needs to be stronger. Until finally the real blow-up comes. I just hope that we will be able to change and correct before that real explosion comes.
If you wish to see an amazing movie about the Global Warming and the danger it has, and much more important, learn what you can DO about it, watch “An Inconvenient Truthâ€? or go to: Climate Crisis where you can learn how to stop this phenomena and create change in your community, country and in the world. Planet earth is the only Home we got!. It’s our responsibility to keep is alive. Add your vote to saving our future and our planet!
