Lilith - The Power of Our Sexuality
Last weekend we had the weekend of the Life-Skills University about Personal Power. There was not much surprise for me that on Monday my Goddess that showed up in my cards was Lilith.
Lilith for me is the best example of what power is. Power can become our source of creation and it can become a destructive element it all depends how we use our power. Do we use it to empower others and allow them to develop or do we use it as a source of domination and control over others.
Lilith symbolizes for me both sides of power – the dark side and the light side.
Lilith (pronounced lil’ith) was originally the Sumerian Queen of Heaven, A Goddess older than Inanna. The Hebrews took the Goddess and transformed her into the first wife of Adam, who refused to lie beneath him when having intercourse. She insisted that because they were created equal, they needed to have sex equally. When Adam refused, she left him. Thereafter, in Jewish mythology, she was described as a demon.
Lilith is a representative of all that is dark, wild, intensely creative and free in human nature, existing beyond the reach of society’s boundaries or control. She is the symbol of the independent, rebellious, sensual, courageous and passionate potential that is in us all.
As a Feminine Spiritual role model Lilith gives us the example how we can use our sexuality as power. The reason that Lilith is portrayed as evil and demon is because she knew that her sexuality has power over men. Lilith holds the ancient fruit of knowledge, the secrets of our deepest sexual nature, and she is willing to offer these fruits to us. Lilith was comfortable with her sexuality, something that even today with the free thought and where sex is not anymore such a taboo, it still frightens women to use it as power.
We have been conditioned for so many centuries that “Good girls shouldn’t think, talk or behave sexually We have forgotten that our origin is through our sexuality and that we do have the right to enjoy it. Our society has so many double standards about sex that we got lost in it and have lost our power by accepting ancient society’s rules and conditions that are not true to us today in the 21st century.
Women’s body is our greatest source of wisdom. When we deny our connection to our bodies and our sexuality we cut away our source of wisdom and knowledge. Our bodies have much more wisdom than our thinking mind, but as women we grew up thinking that our thinking mind (Male energy) is better than our intuition and our body wisdom. It’s time we wake up and recognize and honor the wisdom and power that lies within our body. It’s time we recognize that as women we are sexual and we have sexual powers. It’s time to be proud of it and enjoy it.
Lilith appears to tell you to take back your power. Where are the places you have lost or given away your power? What beliefs do you hold that deny your power? Have you been told that powerful women never find mates? Or that women can’t have power because that would make them unfeminine? Have you been teased, shunned, and detested by others when you’ve stepped into your power? Are you afraid of misusing your power to dominate or manipulate?
Lilith is her to tell you that the way to wholeness lies in acknowledging that you are powerful and accepting your own power.
Have a fun day!

I’m trying to learn more about Wicca, and especially Lilith. She’s by far my favorite Goddess. I can relate to her most becuase all my life people have been angry at me for my opinions, my state of mind, everything. They dislike my tastes and my speaking out. Lilith reminds me that those people have been around for a long time and are never going to go away, but, if there’s a goddess to fight them, I might as well too.

Lilith is certainly a Goddess that can teach us about standing up to our opinions. She would teach us about being in our Personal Power, which means being authentic to who we are, our opinions and emotions.
She is a wonderful role model to connect to, whether by meditations or visualizations and learn more about our ability to be honest with what we believe in and not selling ourselves short due to society’s ideas and concepts.
Keep on learning and connecting to her and you’ll find your way in your world.
